TMI Tuesday 9/13

DATING

1. You’re on a speed date. You’ve got 7 minutes with the potential partner. You already know the person’s name. What are the first three questions you would ask?
Out of a possible 10, how would you rate your libido? (Hopefully, the answer's 12!) What kinds of activities do you enjoy? How kinky are you?

2. Have you ever participated in speed dating? Did you get a regular date/second date out of it?
I've never participated in speed dating.

3. Do you participate in online dating? How many dates have you had as a result of online dating sites/matches?
I met L at an online dating site...on my first try - I was very lucky.

4. You are attracted to:
a. Who people are?
b. What people have?
c. What they can do?
Absolutely, who they are is most important to me. I'm not at all interested in what they do/don't have or what they can do - or what they look like, for that matter. These things are all superficial and can even be ephemeral.

5. What “little red flag” will cause you to end a date or immediately decide this person isn’t for you?
Being shy, people that are too forward, pushy or too much in my personal space are anathema to me. They will drive me right into my shell and I can never get comfortable with them after that.

6. What do you feel you need to sacrifice or have sacrificed to be a part of a relationship?
I think if you meet the right person - and you both give and take and it's not one-sided - then anything that you have to compromise on doesn't feel like sacrifice. I have sacrificed a lot in my life to remain in a relationship, but it's not worth it in the end, when you are the only one making the sacrifices. Always try to be true to yourself and honest with your partner...and if you can't, then you shouldn't be together.

7. If you cooked for your date, what would you cook?
Wow - hard question. I love to cook and bake and I think I'm a pretty good at both, so there are any number of dishes that I make well that I'd like to serve my date. Ask L - I feed him all the time! I think my approach would be to find out what foods my date particularly likes and tailor something to suit his likes.

8. At the end of a first date, how would you kiss your date?
a. Press your lips against theirs
b. Gentle kiss on the cheek
c. Lots o’ tongue, like you’re on a tonsil exploration
d. I don’t kiss on the first date
These descriptions are interesting. A and b sound so sweet and chaste, while c sounds sloppy, gross and disgusting. I think if the date went extremely well and I felt comfortable with the person, I'd go with a modified version of c - tongue without the tonsil exploration. To me, a kiss with tongue should be sensual and full of the promise of things to come. If I was not comfortable with my date or if I wasn't planning a second date, I'd go with b.

Bonus: You just put up a profile on a dating site. You must describe yourself in 10 words or less. What are your 10 words?
Eschewing sentences, I'd say these words describe me: shy, quiet, private, loyal, loving, organized, patient, calm, affectionate and understanding. Of course that's just my perception - I may be wrong about any or all of them!

  1. I like the honesty in your first answer. There's no point in beating around the bush. If someone takes offense to this line of questioning they're probably not a suitable date. All of your answers were very enlightening, but we particularly enjoyed your description of tongue kissing as "sensual and full of the promise of things to come." Very apt. Also, we like the fact that you use words like "anathema" and "eschewing". Clearly you are comfortable with the English language to the point that mundane, commonplace words do not interest you. This is appealing.
